Band of Brothers

MAG has developed from a desire to share with men the teachings of the Bible and through the application of these teachings and fellowship into men’s lives help change and support men in all aspects of their lives, family and work.

At a local men’s conference, held in October 2007, Rev. Carl Beech talked to Christian men from local churches about being strong in their faith and encouraged us to stand shoulder to shoulder in the name of the Lord. The message was that we should go out in to the community as a Band of Brothers to share the gospel with other men.

Following this event, many men in leadership roles in the local churches realised that this should not be a ministry by single churches but should be extended to a regional co-ordinated group to cover a much wider geographic area of Tendring

The Men’s Action Group is made up of male representatives from the Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze churches linked to FACT. We meet together regularly to pray and to focus on Gods' purpose for us. We have a common objective to reach out to men in our locality and have experienced an encouraging and strengthening sense of purpose through our single objective but diverse gifting.

We would welcome other churches within our region to join us in building up men’s ministry within our area and in supporting each other through clearer communication and male focused events.

Peter Simpson

I made a commitment to Jesus Christ in 1972. After three years I left my job in electronics and went to the Apostolic Bible College near Swansea. After college I eventually went back to work in the electronics industry and started my first company in 1980. This was the first of five companies all involved in the switch and sensor market. During my spare time I followed the steps of many others and supported the church in youth ministry, house groups and teaching. My desire to understand theology better led me to take doctrinal courses at St John’s College, Nottingham and Spurgeons, London. Over the years I have taken a number of teaching programmes on Christian topics and Management. Currently I am a director of Purpose Driven UK and have a wife, Sandra, a daughter, Laura and son, John.

Dave Allan

Dave is retired after working in Publishing, Mainframe Computers, Reprographics and Electronic Printing. Very much a family man married to Irene for 43 years, they have 3 sons and a granddaughter. Dave was born in North London in humble surroundings, and he tries to be a humble servant to The Lord and his people. He is currently a Deacon at Homelands Free Church, he tries to reach out to the vulnerable in Society, he is passionate about God's word, and tries to be an encourager to others. He joined the MAG team so that we can reach all age groups as it is never too late to come to Christ. He says his weakness is impatience, and that he is a bad loser, this mainly concerns his other passion, Football, a life long Arsenal supporter, whilst active when younger in many sports, mainly due to Arthritis he is now just an armchair supporter.
